Nana and Papa Visit Hattie!

Rick and Cathy have only been here two days so far...and we are already getting spoiled! Cathy has been cooking lots of good food and they have been helping out alot with Hattie! We went to the peditrician yesterday for her two week check-up. They told us that by the two weeks the baby should be back to their birth weight. Well Hattie's birth weight was 8lbs7ozs and yesterday she weighed 9lbs8ozs! Holy Moly! Guess I didn't need to worry about her not getting enough to eat! Everything else looked great! Glad we have a healthy baby!
Today we went to Home Depot to get some flowers and Cathy helped plant them. We are also going to go on our nightly walk with Hattie!
It is great to have Rick and Cathy here!
I am sure by the end of the week there will be more pictures! Hattie is getting used to the camera already: )

Baby Business!

I made it through my first week alone with Hattie! I love staying at home, I was just really nervous about being alone with her. I wish Brent was home with me. We went on lots of walks, had baths, took naps, changed diapers, and ate! Most of the days went by really fast. Yesterday when Brent got home he looked at me and said " what happened?" it was just a long day I told him. Hattie would not sleep! Infact she didn't sleep in the evening either. I, of course, worry that something is wrong. My sister, Sara, came over and tried getting her to sleep too, but no luck! Finally she went to bed around 12. The good news is she slept 5 hrs, got up and slept another 4 hrs. We could sleep in! Now today I think she is back to sleeping! I am learning quick that I can't worry over everything she does. I just want to try to plan her times, but she is in control of that!
Tomorrow Brent's parents will be here for a week! I am really looking forward to that!

posing with the blanket that Sheila and her mom made! I can't believe all the work Sheila did. Each animal is croched(?) with the tiny x's. I know I could never tackle a project like that! Thanks so much...we love it!

A Busy First Week!

Last week at almost this exact time, Hattie came into the world. In a way it seems that was so long ago. I feel like we have had her so much longer. It has been a week full of learning as Brent and I care for our first baby! Everyone tells us she is a good baby! She sleeps good during the night...up to 5 hours at a time! Brent and I are constantly staring at her and thinking that she is actually ours! I love the feeling of being a parent!
We have had many visitors come and go. Some of the teachers and parents of my students have been bringing over food for us! We have a full fridge full of delicious food. That was so nice!
My parents left yesterday and that was VERY hard. My mom had been here for 3 and a half weeks so it seems weird without her now. Kelly and Courntey came on Friday and just left this morning. It was so nice to see them! They enjoyed Hattie and are getting excited about their little guy coming in about 9 weeks!

Life with Baby!

We have been home for almost two days! We are getting used to life with a baby! We absolutely love it! I can't believe Hattie has only been here a few days... it seems so much longer. Every day we are learning more and more about her and parenting! Hattie is a good baby. She thinks playtime is at night though, so Brent and I are having to get used to the lack of sleep. It is worth it though: )
We have had lots of family and friends visit. Courntey and Kelly ( and baby) will be here this weekend too! It will be really weird next week everyone is gone and Brent goes back to work. I am dreading that. Rick and Cathy will be here the following week though!
Here are a few more pictures from the last few days! This baby better get used to having her picture taken: )

Hattie Jean Dill!

We had the best Easter present this year. Baby Hattie was born at 12:54 Sunday afternoon, she weighed 8lbs 7oz and 20 inches long. Here is her birth story:
We had been scheduled to come in Sunday afternoon at 4:00 to start the induction process since I hadn't been at all dilated. My dr. said we could try for 12 hours then do a c-section if things weren't progressing. Well Hattie had different plans. I started having contractions Saturday morning at 4:30. They continued all day so I went into the hospital late Saturday night. They said I was dilated to 3cm and that I could go home to try to sleep a little more. We drove 30 minutes back to the house and were just getting ready to go to bed when my water broke. We got back into the car and made it to the hospital around 5:00 Sunday morning. I got an epidural and had a pretty easy labor and dilated to 9cm. That's when the dr. came in and said that I was getting a fever and they were worried about her being in stress. They said they would give us 15 minutes for her to come all the way down or else they would want to do a c-section. At this point I just wanted her to be safe and do what they thought was best. We ended up having a c-section and she was born Sunday afternoon.
I was really drowsy from all the medication yesterday but I am feeling great today. Brent has been wonderful with her. The nurse came in and asked how many kids we had. We said this was our first and she looked at Brent and said " your first too" she was surprised at how well he was doing with an infant. We are both loving being parents!

What's Another Few Days?!?!

I had another dr. appointment today, I have had 7 appointments in the last 8 days! My mom has gone with me to all of them! Thank goodness!
Yesterday I had lots of contractions and everyone was thinking maybe this was actually "it", but we found out it wasn't: ( Just a bit dehyrdated. So at my dr. appointment I was really hoping we would decide on what to do next since I am still NOT dilated! He said I could choose to have a c-section or take medicine to try getting my cervix to dilate. We decided that this Sunday afternoon I will go in and try to dilate and if I havent made any changes after 12 hrs, I will have a c-section. So looks like by Monday little Hattie will be here! I was hoping it would be earlier, but hey whats a few more days? I have waited a long time for her and I know she is coming.

Sorry I haven't had pictures. I will try to get some up here soon!! You can probably imagine what I look like...huge! Today this lady told me that I looked smaller for being 40 weeks. I wanted to hug her, I have not heard that from anyone: )

Well unless I go into labor before Sunday, those are the plans!

One of These Days....

I guess I better keep this blog updated better because we are getting lots of calls, texts, e-mails asking if baby is here yet. The answer...NO, not yet!! We will let everyone know right away when she arrives: )
I have being feeling okay the last few days. I had a headache that lasted the entire weekend. It was one that when I would cough or laugh I had to hold my head because it hurt so bad. Tylenol doesn't work very well and that is all I can take. I feel better now. I had another sonogram yesterday with the specialist and they think she is between 8 and 9 pounds, but everything looked good. I go to my regular dr. tomorrow and we are going to decide what we are going to do...induce if dilated or schedule a c-section. I really hope she is here by Friday, but we shall see!!
My mom and I have been getting lots of "bonding time" over the last 8 days. Today w e are going to clean , plant flowers, and rest!
Well I will post after I find out what the dr. says tomorrow!!
Thanks for all of your thoughts!!

WAITING!!

I really thought I was a patient person, but this baby is really testing me!! So here is what has been going on the last few days: Last Friday was my last day with my students for 7 weeks! I might have some students read this and I want to let you know that I am thinking about you everyday and am sure you are loving Mrs. Venters!!
My mom got here on Saturday night and it has been so nice having her here on these very LONG days! I have been shopping, walking, everything else trying to get labor started. But ,as of today, I am still NOT dilated! When I went ino the dr. today he said I gained lots of weight and am retaining water. Also my blood pressure was pretty high. He sent me to do a non stress test, and came back baby is doing fine. I go tomorrow for another sonogram at the hospital to get a good estimate of her weight, then I will meet with my dr. and we will most likely schedule a c-section. Looks like probably Monday or Tuesday, but then again I have been saying that for a while, so I am just going to wait.
I guess I will try to enjoy the last few days while I can rest. Again, I am just so happy to have my mom here! We have been having lots of fun!
Well hopefully you will be seeing baby pictures up here shortly!
Thanks for reading! Have a good week!
