Back at Home Resting after Vacation!

Well we have been home for almost a week now. We are so lucky that we are teachers and get time to rest after a vacation. I couldn't imagine going right back to work. It took a few days for Hattie to adjust from vacation life back to our everyday life, but she is doing good now! She has been sleeping 11 hours at night now without waking up! I think we are getting on a better schedule, which is good considering we only have 3 weeks left of summer vacation left!
This week we pretty much rested at home, getting things unpacked. Tuesday was our 3rd year anniversary so we took Hattie over to Aunt Sara's house while we went out to dinner. Sara said she could have won funniest home videos if her hour would have been recorded! Little Marina wasn't too happy about Mommy holding Hattie. She screamed " my mommy" and cried, this made Hattie mad. Sara said Hattie's underlip was quivering and she was trying to keep her from crying while Marina was holding on to her leg. Daniel was still working from home and couldn't help. Thankfully Auntie Kim came over to rescue Marina by taking Hattie....then she was completely fine!! We appreciated the night out, but felt bad that it was so hard for Sara!
Here are a few pictures from the week. I have to sneak up on Hattie to get pictures of her smiling or she just does this stare into the camera....so funny!! I think she is used to having her picture taken!!

this is what I am talking about....

so happy playing in her chair

Hattie's First Vacation ~Part 2~

We are just getting ready to leave Pierre and begin our trip back to Texas. Tonight we are driving to Spearish, tomorrow driving to Denver, and Saturday flying to Texas! We have really enjoyed our trip and Hattie got to meet lots of new friends and family ( we counted up and she met 129 new people....of course one grandma took her to a quilting party the other took her to a red hat party, and both took her to their work). We also learned that a baby's schedule changes with a vacation. Before we left we had a pretty good nighttime routine where Hattie would sleep from 9 to 6, eat, then sleep until around 8. She started doing that at 6 weeks so Brent and I were getting pretty used to that. Well let's just say she did not have two nights that were the same here. She had a night where she woke up twice, a night where she slept 11 hours straight, a night when she went to bed at 8, and a night where she went to bed at midnight! Yes, last night my mom and I had a wide a wake baby until midnight. Brent was out fishing and Hattie did not want to go to sleep ( she must have known it was her last night here). Finally my mom laid her down in her bed, she didn't even cry and fell asleep on her own! Now this morning she slept in til almost noon! Wow! I really hope we can get back on a better schedule! It was worth all the fun....here is what we have been up to the last week.
Oh I forgot two write a few things about the last week. On Thursday when we got to town we met Aunt Joyce and Uncle Gene. This was before the Red Hat Party ( I now have pictures). Also I forgot to mention that Brent, my dad, uncle, and I played basketball. I beat all the boys 3 out of 4 times in horse. Okay sorry...just had to mention that! It was lots of fun!
Saturday: Jodi came over again and we had a little bonfire outside
Sunday: was my dad's birthday. We went to Miller so Hattie could meet her great grandma Lois! My brother and his clan drove there to meet us. We took the kids for the week! We also met several other cousins and all the people living in the assisted living apartments.
Monday: we met the Tolton family! It was great seeing them. Matthew loves babies so he was really happy he got to hold Hattie.
Tuesday: Brent and I visited Tami Merril who we both student taught with! We also went out to eat at the new restauraunt, The View with my parents. They took us for an early anniversary dinner! It was so nice!
Wednesday: My cousin Rick and his wife Val came over to meet Hattie. We went to dinner at the Ferris' house and got to see Beata, Guy, Abbie, and Jack.
Throughout the week we got to spend lots of time with our nieces and nephew, who are all staying here this week! Kirsten loved picking out Hattie's clothes, pajamas, socks, bows, etc. She was a great help!
We had a great vacation, but it is always hard leaving. Hattie will be so different next time we are back in Pierre!

Hattie's First Vacation~Part 1~

We are half way done with our 16 day vacation visiting friends and family in Colorado and South Dakota! Wow we have been going, going, going this last week having so much fun! Our baby has been quite the little traveler! She didn't make a sound on the plane ride from Dallas to Denver, slept 5 out of the 6 hour drive to Spearfish, South Dakota, and slept for the entire 3 hour trip to Pierre! Hattie is such a content baby and just goes with the flow! I think she is enjoying her first trip!
Here is what we have been up to over the last week! And this week we will be visiting alot more friends and family!
We got in Thursday July 2nd.
Friday: drove up to Estes Park to visit great grandparents, Cliff and Sarah! Hattie had a great time, and of course, we took lots of pictures! We also walked around the downtown.
Saturday: Went out to breakfast with Brent's college roomie, Ryan and his wife Tracy. In the afternoon we had a 4th of July lunch. We got to see Steve and Adele again and meet their daughter, son-in-law, and new grandaughter! It was fun to talk to another new mom. We took the babies on a short walk around the lake. That night we left Hattie with Nana and we went to a Rockies game!
Sunday: drove the 6 hours to Spearfish
Monday: took Hattie through Spearfish park and fish hatchery. Sheila had us all over for a bbq. We got to meet her two nieces. Miranda is only 11 days older than Hattie ( although Hattie is bigger)
Tuesday: I went with Sheila to see her wedding location outside of Spearfish. Her wedding is May 1st, 2010
Wednesday: we went hiking in the Spearfish Canyon!
Thursday: drove 3 hours to Pierre! Hattie also got to go to a red hat party with grandma!
Friday: Hattie got to meet Jodi and Jean Cowan!
