Hattie's First Vacation ~Part 2~We are just getting ready to leave Pierre and begin our trip back to Texas. Tonight we are driving to Spearish, tomorrow driving to Denver, and Saturday flying to Texas! We have really enjoyed our trip and Hattie got to meet lots of new friends and family ( we counted up and she met 129 new people....of course one grandma took her to a quilting party the other took her to a red hat party, and both took her to their work). We also learned that a baby's schedule changes with a vacation. Before we left we had a pretty good nighttime routine where Hattie would sleep from 9 to 6, eat, then sleep until around 8. She started doing that at 6 weeks so Brent and I were getting pretty used to that. Well let's just say she did not have two nights that were the same here. She had a night where she woke up twice, a night where she slept 11 hours straight, a night when she went to bed at 8, and a night where she went to bed at midnight! Yes, last night my mom and I had a wide a wake baby until midnight. Brent was out fishing and Hattie did not want to go to sleep ( she must have known it was her last night here). Finally my mom laid her down in her bed, she didn't even cry and fell asleep on her own! Now this morning she slept in til almost noon! Wow! I really hope we can get back on a better schedule! It was worth all the fun....here is what we have been up to the last week.
Oh I forgot two write a few things about the last week. On Thursday when we got to town we met Aunt Joyce and Uncle Gene. This was before the Red Hat Party ( I now have pictures). Also I forgot to mention that Brent, my dad, uncle, and I played basketball. I beat all the boys 3 out of 4 times in horse. Okay sorry...just had to mention that! It was lots of fun!
Saturday: Jodi came over again and we had a little bonfire outside
Sunday: was my dad's birthday. We went to Miller so Hattie could meet her great grandma Lois! My brother and his clan drove there to meet us. We took the kids for the week! We also met several other cousins and all the people living in the assisted living apartments.
Monday: we met the Tolton family! It was great seeing them. Matthew loves babies so he was really happy he got to hold Hattie.
Tuesday: Brent and I visited Tami Merril who we both student taught with! We also went out to eat at the new restauraunt, The View with my parents. They took us for an early anniversary dinner! It was so nice!
Wednesday: My cousin Rick and his wife Val came over to meet Hattie. We went to dinner at the Ferris' house and got to see Beata, Guy, Abbie, and Jack.
Throughout the week we got to spend lots of time with our nieces and nephew, who are all staying here this week! Kirsten loved picking out Hattie's clothes, pajamas, socks, bows, etc. She was a great help!
We had a great vacation, but it is always hard leaving. Hattie will be so different next time we are back in Pierre!
