Spring Break 2014!

This year's spring break seemed to come at a much needed break time for us. The last few weeks have been pretty crazy, so it has been nice to relax at home as a family.

My Grandma Lois died on February 28th. She was 101 years old! She lived a wonderful life and still had a great memory until the day she died! She never missed one of her 58 grandchildren's birthdays and always included a $2 bill with each card. She was so special. We visited her every summer when we went back to South Dakota. Below are some pictures over the last few years. People ask me how I have a grandma that is 101. It's because I'm the youngest in my family and my mom was the youngest (by far) in her family. Most of my cousins are in their 50's : )
My sister, Kim, dad and I flew up to South Dakota for a few days to attend her funeral. It was freezing! I haven't been to SD in the winter for a long time and I remembered why!! Her funeral was really nice and it was good to see my brother, nieces and nephews, and all other family.

Start of spring break! The girls got a fun hair cut at Sweet and Sassy and then we met friends at Klyde Warren park in downtown Dallas.

Running through the water was super fun! Good thing I brought extra clothes because they were freezing afterwards!

I babysat my two nieces for a couple of days over spring break. We did walks to the pond and park to try and wear them out for bedtime( although that didn't really work!)

We met my sisters at Southern Junction on Friday night for a fundraiser benefiting Rockwall Pets. It's a cool restaurant where you cook your own steaks! Of course I didn't cook mine when I could have Brent do it!

My mom and I missed our 10k in Arkansas since we were in SD, so I ran a 5K with my friend Natasha over the Trinity bridge in Dallas.

February Fun!

This month has been super busy and fun. We have also had some crazy weather this month. We had a "snow" day a week ago and then today it was in the 70's. I guess that's pretty typical in Texas. Highlights of the month were the Hot Chocolate 5K which I ran with my co-workers, mom and church friends, Hattie and Brent's first daddy/daughter dance, Hollyn making her first trip to the ER and Valentine's Day!

Hattie and Brent all dressed up. Sounds like they had a fun night of dancing, playing games, taking pictures and eating desserts.

One day we went to our favorite yogurt place so Hattie ran upstairs and got dressed to match the place. She is pretty funny!

Hollyn swallowed a penny one afternoon and after looking up stories online, we decided to take her to get x-rays. We never did find that penny. We quit looking after a few days : )

Yesterday we met at Build a Bear. Grandma decided to let the girls make animals for Valentine's day. They loved their palace pets- Treasure and Pumpkin

Friday afternoon our school did a fundraiser. We did a mile walk with the students and then the students could pay a dollar and race a teacher. Before the race I was challenging the students to a race. I honestly thought I would have to run slow to beat the younger kids and I was wrong! Those kids were so fast!! I raced k-2, 3-5, middle school, then the teachers! Let's just say I was so worn out I could hardly move the next day. At least we raised a lot of money for the Ronald McDonald House.

I was still really sore today but I had to meet my mom for our 4 mile run. In two weeks we are going to Little Rock to meet some friends and run a 10K so today and next week we need to run 4 or 5 miles. Today was a nice run across the bridge of Lake Ray Hubbard.

Our Christmas 2013

We had another great Chrismtas this year! The girls are so much fun at ages 3 and 4! This year was a special Christmas for them because they got to celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas day with both sets of grandparents! How fun is that?? Nana and Papa came down from South Dakota on Dec. 23rd and stayed until the 30th. We really enjoyed having them with us on Christmas. Here are a few pictures of our Christmas and New Years. I hope you all had a great Christmas too!!

We were out looking at lights on Christmas Eve and Santa just happened to be outside one of the houses. Hattie ran up to him. He told her to go to bed right when she got home because he was getting ready to head that way. She sure did go to bed right away! I wish I could use that trick every night!
