First Steps...

Our excitement from the week of course came from Hattie. Yesterday she took her first 3 steps alone! I never knew how exciting it would be seeing your baby take steps for the first time, and let me tell ya, it really is! She had been getting close to walking for the past few weeks. She was getting pretty comfortable cruising our furniture, but yesterday she decided to go for it!! She looks so big standing unsupported. I asked Brent what is happening to our little baby. I really need to try to figure out how to get a video clip onto this blog! We have a really cute video of her walking around with her little stroller my parents got her. Last week she couldn't even walk with it, and now today she was crusing around holding onto it looking like she has done it forever! She is something else: )
I also included pictures of her feeding Benny and Lola her food! I think Benny and Lola have found someone else in the family that drops more food than me ( remember how they just stare at the floor when I am eating, knowing something is bound to fall)!
And the other pictures are from one of the teachers I work with, Audrah's baby shower! Of course the weekend seemed to fly by and tomorrow we are back to work for another week!! Have a great weekend all of you blog readers!!

Grandma and Grandpa Time!!

My mom and dad flew down here last Friday since they couldn't make it over Christmas. We love having my parents here, I can't wait until they live here and we can see them all the time! Hattie got to have quality time with her grandparents when she stayed home with them all day on Tuesday and Wednesday. I could tell my parents had a great time with Hattie, because when I got home they told me everything they did and they were so excited about every little thing : ) We enjoyed watching the Vikings games and taking walks outside while they were here. My parents were happy they were here in Texas enjoying the 70 degree weather when it was very cold in South Dakota! They leave tomorrow but they already have their next visits planned. My mom will be here for 10 days in March while her and her friends run a half marathon and then they will be back in May. It is always nice to be able to look forward to our parents visiting!

Oh yah...here are Hattie's 9 month check-up stats:
weight 24lbs and height 31 inches ( 97 percentile in both areas). She had a good check-up and everything looks good! She is definetly passing up all the other babies I know that are her age! She is a big girl!

Hattie is 9 months!

I think we are really starting to see the personality of our little Hattie coming out these days! I swear she does something new everyday! She is so fast, crawling all over the place...including the stairs! I ran upstairs to get something real quick and came back down and she was on the second step. She can get all the way to the top of the stairs by herself( Mom don't worry, we stand behind her: ). She still loves to dance when she hears music and she is learning how to dance while standing. She pulls herself up on anything she can get to and loves taking steps around our ottoman. I am excited to think about her walking pretty soon. Grandma and Grandpa Lakner get here Friday and they are going to be so suprised at how much she has changed since they have seen her 3 months ago! We are so excited for them to be here!

Oh yah...we go to the dr. for her 9 month check-up on Friday! Anyone think she will be on under the 100th percentile? I doubt it: ) We will post that next time!
Have a fantastic week!

Hattie's First Christmas!

Our two week Christmas vacation is quickly coming to an end. I feel like I could use a couple more days to rest before going back for the second half of the school year. We had a great two weeks and I am pretty sure Hattie had a wonderful first Christmas. She got to see lots of family! We spent the first week in Colorado. We definetly got our white christmas. I think I had enough winter and snow to last until next year. I am glad we have family that lives in CO and SD so we can visit and still see snow once a year. Hattie was exited to see her Nana and Papa, it was obvious she still remembered them from Thanksgiving! She also loved getting to play with Jaron, he is in 2nd grade but seems so much more mature. He was great with Hattie. She loved to sit in his room and he would turn on music for her and find toys that he thought she would like to play with. She also got to spend time with Aunt Tracy and great grandparents, Cliff and Sarah. Hattie and Sarah got some extra bonding time while the rest of us went to a Nuggets game one night. They won, and even more exciting; Jaron finally got his jersey signed by the mascot, Rocky! On Christmas Hattie got spoiled with lots of books, toys, and clothes! Plus she got her two front teeth in the day before. What more could she ask for?!?! It is always sad to leave family in Colorado because we know it will be a while before we get to see them again. Hattie will be so different next time we see them. Oh yah....the flight was suprisingly enjoyable both ways. Hattie didn't make a peep on the plane either way. I felt tense crossing my fingers that she wouldn't cry or her ears wouldn't bother her. It was fun! She even met a couple of friends crawling around the airport before our flights. We will see if she continues to be a good flyer when we fly to Sheila's wedding in May!!
When we got back to Texas we were excited to have my nieces and nephews here along with my brother, Greg! The bad news is that, due to weather, my parents weren't able to make it. It's okay...they will be here for even longer in two weeks!!
We had so much fun with Greg and the kids. I have such wonderful nieces and nephews and they are all so good with Hattie and Marina. It is just funny to see them like that, since I remember how much I adored them when they were babies. Brent and I went with them to Dave and Busters one afternoon. We decided to take Hattie to her daycare so she could see everyone and we could enjoy the afternoon. When we walked into Alicia's house she started shaking and then when she saw Alicia she got so excited and reached her arms out and just cuddled into her shoulder. She had missed Alicia and her friends! AWW!! I felt so happy that my baby enjoys daycare and loves Alicia!
On New Years Eve, Brent and I spent the night alone watching the Dick Clark show and playing rock band. My brother was planning on staying through New Years, but the kids were anxious to get home to their friends....they are teenagers!! And today is Sara's birthday so I took her to get pedicures and then we met Kim and some other friends for lunch! Tomorrow will be busy unpacking and doing laundry!
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year~ I can't even imagine how 2010 could be better than this year!!
