Two weeks ago we were getting ready for our first day back to work ( just inservice- no kids then) and the girls first day of daycare or as Hattie would say- she goes to school and her baby sister goes to the baby class. I had everything ready- we're talking diapers and baby food jars lableled with "Hollyn", clothes laid out, back packs packed, and alarms set. I knew I would be getting up early so I read my daily devotion book the night before ( normally I read it on the actual day) anways it talked about how sometimes our days don't go as planned and that it can turn out to be a blessing. I was thinking " wait...that's not going to be my day tomorrow is it?" Well turns out that was just the beginning of our two week long "Dill Household Sickness"! That night Hattie woke up with a 103 temp. and I knew she wasn't going to be able to make it to her first day of "school". Brent and I really wanted to make it to our first day back at work....it kinda looks bad after having 10 weeks off and not showing up on the first day ( although I know my principal would have totally been okay with it). I ran over to my neighbors and woke her up and asked if she could watch Hattie and she said that was fine! YAY! Hattie didn't even seem sick and had a fun day with our neighbor. She did make it to school the next day with a full dose of tylenol to keep the fever down.
Then a few days later Hollyn got pink eye and Hattie got stung by a bee that made her face swell! My oh my! And I was starting to feel like I was getting sick but it didn't really get bad until the actual first day of school ( with the kiddos). I woke up and could hardly talk! I ended up having to whisper for the first 3 or 4 days of school! By Thursday I felt like it was getting worse so I went in and got put on meds for a sinus infection. At the same time Brent started getting a really high fever and horrible cough. UGH! But we were so thankful Hollyn didn't seem to be getting sick...that was until two nights ago when she woke up at 1 in the morning with a 103 temp. Poor baby has been sleeping all day and just isn't her happy little self.
So as of today ( two weeks after Hattie's high fever), we are all still sick except Hattie! We went all of last year without being sick once and now we are starting the first week of school off with ALL of us getting sick...oh no! I really hope this isn't a preview of what this year will be like.
But besides being so sick, we did have good first weeks of school! I am really excited about my class this year and my new teaching buddy!
And after two weeks, Hattie is really starting to like her school! That first week and a half were pretty rough. Hollyn, on the other hand, didn't have problems adjusting to daycare. Her teachers always say that she is just as happy as can be. : )
Brent and I both gots lots of snuggling time....which is always nice, just wish she didn't have to be sick.
