What a Trooper!!

Hattie is feeling so much better after her rough week! We found out our poor baby was sick with swine flu last Thursday. When we first found out, we panicked, but within 24 hours she was so much better. We were lucky she never got that sick since we took her in right away. Her only symptoms were a fever and cough. They gave her tamiflu, and it worked wondefully!! We know that everyone was really scared when they heard the news. The media has made the words " swine flu" very scary! It definetly can be. It is just so important to catch it right away...see that is the good part of being over-protective parents: ) Our pediatrician is so good....she always tells us to just come in if we have concerns. So Hattie did return to daycare on Monday. None of the other babies got sick and Brent and I didn't either!!
Right when we realized Hattie was sick with the flu, we noticed she was getting her first teeth! Great timing!! But she looks so adorable with her two teeth!! We are hoping the teething is the reason for her getting up during the night a few times this week!! We will see! She is still really good about being laid down and getting her self to sleep though!! She does that for her naps and at night. She can sit up by herself for a little bit now, still rolls everywhere, and loves to giggle!! Brent and I always ask eachother what we did before her...it feels like she has been with us forever: )

Auntie Kim got Hattie a cute hat....and she liked it of course!!
Look close and you can see her teeth...

Happy Grandparents Day! I love you all!
XOXO Hattie

So Hattie may not yet know how amazing her grandparents are, but Brent and I do!

I have practically grown up seeing my parents be grandparents ( I became and aunt at the age of 10 : )). Grandma Jean and Grandpa John are definetly the " cool and fun" grandparents! Grandpa John loves joking around with his grandkids. He is also known to take the kids on rides around the block in his riding lawnmower!! Grandma Jean isn't the typical grandma, come on she just ran in her third half marathon....how many people can say their grandma does marathons?!?! Grandma Jean loves being with her grankids whether it's taking them shopping, going on long bike rides, or just listening to them tell their stories...she is always there for all of them. Some people are suprised when I say that Hattie is their 8th grandchild....I guess they are surprised that she can be so spoiled when they have so many other grandkids. I think they could have 100 grandkids and they would all be spoiled and loved!!

Nana Cathy and Papa Rick are also amazing grandparents. We have watched them be grandparents to Jaron for the last 7 years....and we know any kid would be lucky to have them as grandparents. The only way I can really explain Cathy is being the kind of grandma that are described in stories, just that "stereotypical" kind of Grandma. Cathy will go out of her way for anyone. She is such a caring and loving person. I know she is going to love starting traditions with Hattie just like she does with Jaron. Hattie's Papa Rick is somebody that everyone loves....especially kids! I am sure he will have a special way of talking and interacting with Hattie, just like he does with Jaron. Papa will probably love taking Hattie outdoors and to coffee group when she is older!

Hattie is also so lucky to have great -grandparents that she has already got to meet. Great-grandma Lois just turned 97, and still has the best memory. She has never forgotten her grandchildrens' birthday ( and she has LOTS of grandchildren) and she always sends a 2 dollar bill in a card on each birthday. Great Papa Cliff and Sarah already adore little Hattie! I am sure Hattie will look forward to visits to Colorado to see them!

Thinking about Hattie's wonderful grandparents makes me think of all the wonderful memories I have being with my grandparents when I was younger. I really miss my grandma and grandpa Lakner. I just know that Grandma Wilma would have been crazy for Hattie if she was still alive!

There is just a way that grandparents can make their grandchildren feel special in a way that no one else can! I look forward to Hattie seeing what amazing grandparents she has! She is so lucky!!

Also it is Grandmas Jean's birthday the same day as Grandparents Day! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
There is also another new blog below this one!

Here are pictures of Hattie with all her grandparents!

Hattie is 5 months!!

Our sweet baby girl is already 5 months!! This week was pretty rainy here in good ol' Texas, so we pretty much stayed inside and relaxed! We went out to a football game to cheer on some of Brent's middle schoolers. Hattie got to sit by her friend Cooper at the game! Tonight we went out to dinner with Hattie. We were planning on going to a friend's b-day party, but it got cancelled. It was nice to go out to dinner though. Hattie sat in her carseat the entire time and was laughing so much that she attracted lots of the waiting staff and other people! She is such a happy little girl!

Labor Day Weekend!

Why can't all weekends be three days? That would be so nice!! Well this weekend we wanted to get out and do something fun. We wanted to go to the Dallas Farmer's Market on Saturday and then to Kim's for a bbq, but Hattie ended up not feeling well. Actually, all three of us have been pretty stuffed up and not feeling the best. We just took it easy. Hattie slept quite a bit and I think she is feeling better. She didn't have a fever, just congested. They say this flu season could be bad, gosh I hope not! Brent and I are making sure we sanitize and change clothes after school, before playing with Hattie.
Hattie will already be 5 months on Saturday! She continues to change daily. She now holds her own bottle, cries when her baby food is gone, and rolls all over the place. She is so entertaining!
Well hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Here are a few pictures from the week!
