Spring Break!
We couldn't have had a better Spring Break this year! It was really nice to have a week off school and get to spend time with family. We went on our first family vacation to San Antonio and then had Hattie's 2nd birthday party! Lots of fun!
Brent's parents flew to Texas last week. Hattie went to the airport to pick them up. It didn't take her long to warm up to Nana and Papa. After about 5 minutes at home she was saying " c'mom Papa" and they were busy playing.
We really appreciated Rick and Cathy planning a little trip to San Antonio. The car ride took about 6 hours ,but both girls did really well riding in the car. It didn't seem long at all. We took several breaks which helped. The first night in San Antonio we went to see The Alamo and the River Walk. Wow, it is so pretty! We ate at a mexican restuarant right on the river. Hollyn had a huge fit when I tried to give her a bottle made with cold water...she screamed while we were walking on the river walk. Everyone was looking at us and we decided to book it back to the hotel. She stopped as soon as we got to the hotel. Go figure!
Later that night Nana and Papa watched the girsl so Brent and I could get out for a little alone time. Our hotel was right on the river walk, so we were able to walk down there again and see it all lit up at night. We ran in to a couple from church that we knew!
The next day we went to Sea World! I went when I was a little kid, but don't remember much. All I know is I was obsessed with Shamu! I was really excited to go again and see what Hattie would think of it. The day started off with Hattie throwing a fit during the Shamu show. SHe did fine waiting the 30 minutes for it to start, but as soon as it started she wanted out of there. I am glad she got over it pretty quick ( after her and daddy fed the flamingos while we watched the show) because there was so much to do there. We enjoyed seeing the aquarium with sharks, dolphins and fish; watching shows; playing in the kiddie area where we watched the sesame street characaters and let Hattie play games and go on rides; and playing in the water park. As soon as we got back to the hotel the girls took really long naps!
That night we tried to go to the Rainforest Cafe, but after 2 plus hours of waiting, we decided to go back to the room and order in food.
We got back home on Thursday. Just in time to get ready for Hattie's birthday party on Friday. Hattie's birthday isn't until April 12th, but we wanted both sets of grandparents to be here, so we decided to have it early. We had a beautiful night it was, where we could hang outside and let the kids play. It turned out really nice. Thanks to my friend, Ruth Ann, for taking pictures that night!
